Durif 2008
The Cape Horn signature wine, Durif is a black grape variety, also known as Petit Syrah (Small Shiraz), developed in France initially to combat downy mildew. Reflecting a particularly small grape size, the wine has incredibly intense colour, flavours and tannins. The warm Cape Horn microclimate is ideal for this late ripening grape variety allowing an intensity of rich dark fruit and inky colour but a well restrained body weight. It is matured on French and American oak barrels for 15 months and then cellared for a further 2 years before release. The result is an elegant wine with black fruits and a unique minty/ eucalypt character balanced by soft tannins and strong finish. Drinking well now but will improve over the next 8-10 years.

Shiraz 2006
2006 was a warm year with minimal rain, resulting in a low-yielding harvest of concentrated small berries. This produced an intense full-bodied Shiraz full of varietal berry and spice characters as well as a complex minty/ eucalypt overtone reflecting the Cape Horn surrounds and microclimate. The wine has seen 12 months in French oak and is well-balanced with robust tannins, sure to age well over the next 5-10 years.

Durif Vintage Port 2005
2005 was such an exceptional year for Durif that we decided to create this intense varietal vintage port. The typical spicy, peppery Durif characteristics are complimented by some subtle oak treatment and fine brandy spirit. This is a vintage port that though appealing now, will become exceptional as it ages. A great way to end a meal.

Sparkling Chardonnay 2010
This is our second vintage of Sparkling Chardonnay. Harvested in January 2010, the base wine was first fermented in stainless steel tanks where it matured un-oaked for 6 months. It was then refermented in the bottle continuing its maturation for a further 6 months on yeast lees in the traditional Methode Champenoise. The result is clean, crisp sparkling wine with fresh citrus and apple fruit characters balanced by a soft, toasty yeast finish. An excellent celebratory wine!
