By far one of our best Chardonnay’s produced to date; this wine has achieved the perfect balance of citrus and stone-fruit characters, crisp acidity and elegantly integrated oak. White  Late Picked Marsanne (Sweet) 2009
Left on the vine for an extra 5 weeks after the regular Marsanne, these grapes develop sweet concentrated varietal characteristics suitable for a delicate dessert wine. The wine has a rich, creamy texture balanced by a floral, honeysuckle and apricot palate. It is a light dessert wine with well-structured acidity enabling it to be enjoyed on its own and can be an excellent accompaniment for a sharp cheese. Will develop sumptuous butterscotch and honey characters with age. [Order]

White  Marsanne 2008
A full bodied, deep coloured wine with a heavy aroma of honeysuckle and almonds. It is a variety that will age well in the bottle if not over cropped. In 2007 the vineyard was affected by drought conditions and this brought out the best in the wine creating intense fruit flavours, small berries and low yield. [Order]

Sweet  Late Picked Zinfandel 2007
Also known as Primitivo, a black Italian grape variety, it performs best in warmer climates for even ripening. Zinfandel is an alternative variety that is often used to make both a light Rosé style wine or a full bodied fruit driven red which is the style we have developed. It is clean, fresh and spicy with excellent colour and flavour but not overly exposed to oak. Picked late April with considerable residual sugar this full bodied wine showing spicy berry flavours that will cellar well and is a perfect compliment chocolate and strawberries. [Order: Special Price!]

Rosé  Rosé 2009
Using the Zinfandel grape, this Rosé is produced via a short period of skin contact prior to fermentation to extract a light rosy pink colour. The Zinfandel adds light, red berry characters of raspberry and cherry and soft tannins to the wine that have been balanced with a hint of sweetness. This is a luscious semi-dry Rosé with a hint of effervescence not dissimilar to a moscato, perfect to drink now and during the coming spring/ summer. [Order]

Red  Cabernet Sauvignon 2006
The drought year produced excellent red wines and the shiraz was no exception. With a yield of 1.5 tonnes per acre the resulting wine is by far the best shiraz we have produced to date. The fruit was at full ripeness when picked and the resulting wine has alc/vol. of 15% and has excellent fruit flavours that suggests tastes of chocolate, pepper and spices, mixed with blackberries. Matured in new American oak barrels for 15 months the wine has developed and integrated well to produce a smooth full bodied wine. [Order: Special Price!]

Red  Cabernet Sauvignon 2005
This vintage of the Cabernet is smooth and well-balanced, with elegant soft tannins, typical warm climate varietal black-cherry and black-current fruit and tight minty/ eucalypt characters. A complex wine, whose combination of bright fruit and smooth tannins will allow it to be enjoyed now and for the next 5-10 years. An excellent representation of the Cape Horn style. [Order: Special Price!]

Red  Durif 2006
The Cape Horn signature wine, Durif is a black grape variety, also known as Petit Syrah (Small Shiraz), developed in France initially to combat downy mildew. Reflecting a particularly small grape size, the wine has incredibly intense colour, flavours and tannins that are often so overwhelming that they can prevent the wine from being drunk for a long period of time. The warm Cape Horn microclimate is ideal for this late ripening grape variety allowing an intensity of rich dark fruit and inky colour but a well restrained body weight. It is matured on French and American oak barrels for 15 months and then cellared for a further 2 years before release. The result is an elegant wine with black fruits and a unique minty/ eucalypt character balanced by soft tannins and strong finish. Drinking well now but will improve over the next 8-10 years. Priced at $22.00 a bottle or $237.60 a Doven [Order]

Red  Shiraz 2006
2006 was a warm year with minimal rain, resulting in a low-yielding harvest of concentrated small berries. This produced an intense full-bodied Shiraz full of varietal berry and spice characters as well as a complex minty/ eucalypt overtone reflecting the Cape Horn surrounds and microclimate. The wine has seen 12 months in French oak and is well-balanced with robust tannins, sure to age well over the next 5-10 years. [Order]

Red  Sparkling Durif/Shiraz 2007
This wine is made because it really tastes fantastic on a summers day, when you really want a red but it is just too hot. It is light sparkling wine with lots of berry fruits typical of shiraz and durif. The natural fermentation in the bottle lightens the style and the addition of a dosage of port when disgorged gives the wine a sweet finish. The wine still has the oak characters due to its 15 months in oak and this has enhanced the resulting wine. The base wine won Gold for the durif and bronze for the shiraz [Order]

Red  Zinfandel 2009
Also known as 'Primitivo', a black Italian grape variety, it performs best in warmer, hot climates to ripen evenly and also grown in California. It is an alternative variety that is often used to make both a light rose style wine or a full bodied fruit driven red which is the style we have developed. It is clean, fresh and spicy with excellent colour and flavour but not overly exposed to oak. [Order: Special Price!]

Fortified  Durif Vintage Port 2005
It was such an exceptional year for durif that we decided to create this intense varietal vintage port with durifs’ typical spicy, peppery durif characteristics. Complimented by some subtle oak treatment and fine brandy spirit in its fortification this vinatage port that though appealing now, it will become exceptional as it ages. Great with chocolate and cheese. [Order]

Champagne  Sparkling Chardonnay 2008
This is our first vintage of Sparkling Chardonnay. Harvested in January 2008, the base wine was first fermented in stainless steel tanks where it matured un-oaked for 6 months. It was then refermented in the bottle continuing its maturation for a further 6 months on yeast lees in the traditional Methode Champenoise. The result is clean, crisp sparkling wine with fresh citrus and apple fruit characters balanced by a soft toasty yeast finish. An excellent celebratory wine! [Order]
